MacKID's Picks: 5 Events For Kids, Families This Week

Fun things to do in Pueblo this week. Holiday lights, shopping and more!

Happy Thanksgiving week! We hope you all have a chance to gather with friends and family and enjoy an amazing meal this week. But for those for whom this holiday is difficult, know you are in our thoughts.

If you're looking for something to do to keep those kids busy this week, we have options for you! Plus, don't forget to support small businesses Saturday! There are more events on the calendar here and don't forget you can add your own to it as well!  Here are our five picks for event highlights this Thanksgiving weekend and into the beginning of next week: 

1. Kick off the holiday season at the Riverwalk. 

The Pueblo Riverwalk is hosting the 21st annual Holiday Lighting Extravaganza this Friday, November 25th! If you haven't been to one: IT IS AMAZING. There will be holiday concerts, food, boat rides, fireworks, and so much more. Best of all: it is FREE!!! 

2. Do some small business shopping at the Mistletoe Market.  

Saturday the 26th is small business Saturday. Pueblo has so many amazing small businesses. While you are out check out the 4th annual Mistletoe Market at the Olde Towne Carriage House from 9am - 4pm. There will be food trucks and vendors galore! 

3.Watch the free Pueblo Parade Of Lights! 

After your shopping is done find a spot to watch the free Pueblo Parade of Lights! Holidays in the Steel City.  You can find the parade route map here. The parade starts at 5:30pm on Saturday November 26th. 

4. Relax and enjoy some story time! 

There are two great options if you are looking for story time on Monday, November 28th.  First, the Giodone Library will be having Preschool Storytime from 11 am to noon.  It is for kids 3 and up,it is free, and it is a really fun thing to do with kids in Pueblo. They have puppets, rhymes,s and songs to really engage kids in the story. 

Rather stay at home? Then check out the New York Public Library's virtual event: Pajama Storytime With A Stuffed Animal Friend. It is from 9:15 - 9:45, Monday the 28th,  it's free, you can wear pajamas, and they recommend gathering everyone's favorite stuffed friends to check it out! 

5. Head to the Miracle on Orman Avenue tree lighting ceremony. 

MORE LIGHTS? Oh yes!! The annual Miracle on Orman Avenue Tree Lighting Ceremony takes place at Pueblo Community College on the Student Center Patio. It is FREE on November 29th, starting at 4pm. This event is open to the public, there will be music, lights, refreshments, and an appearance from Santa. If you can not make it in person you can watch the event on the campus Facebook page or on Comcast channel 19.
